Our Products and the Environment

inhaus is strongly committed to making your home and the earth a better place. We're not only concerned with making your home beautiful, but strive to ensure that it is a healthy place to live by providing products that are constructed in an environmentally responsible manner.

Indoor Air Quality

All of our products are made with E1 (low formaldehyde emission) core-board and are in compliance with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Airborne Toxic Control Measures (ATCM) Phase II standards. In addition, our patented installation systems allow you to install our products without the use of glue, further contributing to our clean-air mission.

Recycling

Over 80% of the material in our products is made from wood that is considered a byproduct of other processes (eg. sawmills). The remainder of our wood comes from managed,PEFC approved forests. The residual wood waste we use is generated from renewable wood species in sawmills that surround our production facility so that the transportation of raw materials is minimized. Being a vertically integrated producer also means that we produce the core-board and laminate flooring under one roof, which further reduces the amount of transportation necessary to ship raw materials. We're also proud to make available some of the most realistic reproductions of exotic wood floors, which we can only hope will lead to a reduction in the harvesting of rare and exotic trees as flooring consumers choose a realistic, environmentally friendly alternative over the real thing.

We have developed innovative methods to reduce our impact on the environment. One example is our recycling of wood-waste such as dust and particles created during the laminate flooring production process. This waste is a very efficient fuel so instead of disposing of it we use it to heat our manufacturing equipment, plant and offices. This allows us to recycle up to 16,000 tonnes of wood-waste per year are in an environmentally friendly and efficient manner.
